Death of Port Alberni woman under investigation
I see the news headline says death of a Port Alberni woman is under investigation. http://www2.canada.com/albernivalleytimes/news/story.html?id=326e9a62-643f-4eb1-a7ac-a20746b032e3
I heard she is the daughter of the man that was murdered a few weeks ago. Has anyone else heard the same thing?

That's the first I've heard of it. A lot of strange stuff going on in this town lately to say the least.

I see in today's local paper the 31 year old woman's death is not considered suspicious.

The family wants the public to know the truth about death of their loved one
This Alberni Valley Times report is about the true cause of the woman's death.
On Jan. 14, Dale Douglas Sr. went to the home of his girlfriend's father to see if everything was alright, and he discovered Merve Hankins had been killed in what appeared to be a home invasion.
The sudden loss of the grandfather to his children and father to his fiancée Jennifer Amos sent the small family into deep despair, Douglas explained. They were only just starting to come out of it, when Amos died as a result of an ongoing illness.
But Douglas said as heartbroken as they were by her death, the rumours they had to face surrounding her death made it all the more painful.
Douglas said the story begins on Feb. 14. Instead of enjoying roses and chocolates on Valentine's Day, the couple made a trip to the hospital.
Amos had been in a lot of pain and was coughing. Although she hates hospitals, the couple decided it was time to figure out what was causing the unusual illness.
After spending four hours at West Coast General Hospital, Amos was sent home with some pain killers and muscle relaxers. One week later on Feb. 22, Amos drowned as a result of a severe lung infection. Douglas and his 10-year-old son had been by her side the whole time.
Douglas wants people to know that the cold way her death was reported and the rumours that are floating around Port Alberni don't tell her story.
"She was very loved," he said. "It seemed so cold the way the whole thing was handled. She died of a lung infection - we were robbed of the woman we loved."
